A better way to Yoga on the internet

yoga-sml.jpgHosted by the worlds first, and only non-profit, "eco", (READ: solar-powered) community network, the OpenSourceYoga initiative promises nothing less than:-

  • zero environmental impact
  • the widest open public consultation about Yoga ever known and
  • lasting benefits for the entire Yoga community

If you are new here, you could also try the WelcomeGuest topic too.

Rather than being concerned about a particular ideology, tradition, style of practice, or profits - this WikiWebSite welcomes everyone who wants to support a vision of something that is OPEN - right from the start - and right at its heart.

You will find things that need to be improved, and things that need fixing - but we love imperfection anyway - don't you ?

After a few minutes adjusting to WikiCulture, it soon becomes a very intuitive and beautiful way to go about things. WabiSabi finds beauty in the imperfect and ephemeral and constantly evolving. (and when it comes down to it, isn't this all we really need ?)

When you first start using the Open Source Yoga Wiki, it will probably seem strange to be able to change other people's postings. This is because we are all used to separating individual messages on the Internet, eg. as e-mails, message board postings etc. Don't worry about it. You cannot accidentally delete important stuff - you can always check previous versions, and copy-and-paste from them if you want to undo any changes.

After a short while, this free-form communication becomes second-nature. You may even start to want it and expect it everywhere you go on the Internet.

So what?

This is not your typical Yoga company or association website, it focusses on making Yoga on the web better for everyone, by allowing passionate contributors to indulge themselves whilst not putting any pressure on anyone to do anything in particular either.

The ultimate offering will always be that it is for everyone - all quite natural and painless really. ATasteOfFreedom provides us with relief from the age old problem of YogaSovereignty.

Open Source Yoga looks way too high tech for me ! - is it ?

If you can login to a computer and write an email then you have all the skills required to use this Wiki - and as more improvements to layout etc. are made it is getting easier to use all the time.

If you have new ideas about Yoga just register an account, login - type stuff in and click !!

You can COPY and PASTE text from word documents / emails / anything at all - ADD images - links - anything !!

Once you get the hang of it you could try WebCreateNewTopic for your own free personal webspace - or for your Yoga group / activities like info from your mailings and the like ??

You could also use the Wiki for projects - getting feedback on new ideas - marketing etc ?

The possibilities are almost endless ?

- or just keep dropping by to take a look at what is going on and then adapt it for your situation - build a better a Yoga website, business, course content, Yoga group or association of some kind.

But whatever you might think about this website, we believe that "Staying open on every level will mean good things will happen".

Being open like this means stuff will come in from anyone, get changed by everyone and avoids the painful situation of half-hearted, partial direction from an "Inner Circle" or "unelected, chosen few".

So, this Yoga website is about "really being open", (and not just saying it) - and this ultimately is better for Yoga.

It means higher-quality information and a more secure community.

It offers real opportunities for perpetual innovation, freedom from Dogma__________ _________and _"control freaks" and it supports a Yoga on the Internet that is truly accessible to all.
