Even if you are happy with the service and cost of your current provider - it makes sense to switch to our 100% solar powered service as the price premium is likely to be small and the service of equivalent - or better quality. We are sometimes even cheaper than less ecological providers.

The data centre used for our Yoga web sites are 100% solar powered (powered entirely by solar panels). Also, our network administration systems are run on 100% renewable electricity, (from the natural, sustainable energy of wind, sun or running water).

A system like this is an environmental equivalent, (in terms of reduction in emissions) of planting around 3.5 acres of trees per year !

Note: In contrast to this, many providers offer a Green hosting service through CARBON OFFSET only. So, (although this is better than nothing) - they often still consume energy from coal-burning or nuclear power stations !

Many of these companies do not invest directly in solar panels or wind turbines !

Other things that help:-

• Lighting is turned off during the day, (the building has solar tubes which bring in natural light from the outside)
• Layers of environmentally friendly insulation keep the cool air in and the hot air out, therefore reducing the amount of energy necessary to run it !
• Cooling systems are water cooled and energy star compliant
• A soil / plant roof for the data centre is underway - to reduce the cooling and heating requirements by over 50%
• All Compact Fluorescent Light Bulbs are being replaced with LED lighting to reduce electricity usage and reduce Mercury contamination at landfill.
